Grants Pass Oregon with his wife Terry, and their three children; Jacob, Amanda, and Daniel in 1997 to start a new church. Pastor Matt knew the Lord was calling him to ministry back in 1987 but did not see how it would possibly work since he had a business, and a family to take care of. In 1992 Matt, and his family began attending Applegate Christian Fellowship where Matt met his Pastor Jon Courson. It wasn’t long before Jon asked Matt to serve as an elder, and to get involved with leading worship. It was during those years at Applegate that Matt learned to teach, and experienced for the first time how the model of the early church described in the book of Acts was possible. The desire to Pastor a church only grew stronger. One weekend in 1994, Matt and Terry spent their get away in Bandon by the sea. It was that eventful weekend that the Lord spoke to both of them about coming and starting a church.
Four years later Pastor Jon sent them to Bandon to begin a new work on the southern Oregon coast. Beginning with ten people the Lord has grown the body of believers in Bandon to over five hundred, plus children.
